Why do I keep this site up and running, when I don't really blog much on it? It's my digital web SANDBOX! Like a lot of digital gearheads and web developers/publishers, I keep this site up as a sort of "Sandbox" to play in. On any given week, I'll install, test and uninstall multiple Joomla applications.
I've also been known to install various Open Source apps like Drupal, WordPress, vTiger, SugarCRM, and K2 and test drive them in secret directories only I have privy to...Mwwaahaahaaahaaa! It's usually better to mess up my own site, rather than take down a clients with all my digital tweeking!
So if you're ever wondering why my site is loading so slowly, it's probably because I've installed a Chevy Big Block inside it, and am trying to tune that Bad Boy whay whay up!
Update: 4/21/08 I've been forced to turn off the image display in the module, because other "customized" avatars are not being shrunk down. Not as pretty in my layout, and I don't feel like messing with the code, so I'll be on the lookout for other module solutions. Free (software) is as free (software) does.
Update: 4/3/09 I noticed last night, that the 2.0 extension is still glitching, presenting certain images non-thumbnailed (doesn't seem to matter if they are giif, jpeg or png). The software might need an adjustment to the php? No idea right now. I suspect it has something to do with Tweets who upload large "custom" images. Hmmm.

Here's one of my favorites from the Vimeo website, famous for their high-def free video hosting. Test 1- Success (Always nice when a free application works the first time! The add "AVR Media" button auto-determined video file type, auto-filled fields, and was intuitive to use. )
