Check out the before and after data savings of almost 77%! See if your site's content is GZIP Compressed at this free site.My blog was loading very slowly this morning, so I popped open the Joomla! CMS administrators hood to investigate any tweeks I could make to the "engine".
Lo and behold, I hadn't switched on the GZIP Page Compression in the Global Configuration! Or maybe accidentally switched it off. Duh. Note that GZIP Compression is one way most major sites such as YouTube.com deliver content faster. Also, many other CMS (Content Management Systems), such as Drupal and Wordpress, also use GZIP, so check your administration configuration to see if yours is switched on. Big Red Flag: Using Gzip Compression will use more of your server's processing power. Some sites on shared hosting plans may not be able to handle the extra load and your account may get flagged for using more than your fair share of server resources. Check the status of your site in the following few days to make sure every thing's fine if you're using a shared host. Are there any ways you've quickly revved up your website?
