Social Media Case Study: Bad Chinese food, made by dispassionate Latinos PDF Print E-mail

"How does this Social Media stuff work on the Interweb?"

"And will I need a pnumatic tube extended to my neighbor's home to enjoy it in technicolor?"

The short answer is, "Yes."

Scenario:
Wednesday, February 25, 12:00 noon, Chicago.

While driving down Jackson St., east into The Chicago Loop, Ed snapped a poorly composed picture of the iconic Sears Tower with his camera phone. Prior to attending a project kickoff meeting with a client, Ed Eusebio stopped for lunch in a Chinese fast food restaurant.  He ordered the daily special (which was not at all special) and popped open his MacBook, logging into the free Wifi provided by the nearby Chicago City College system (thanks Mayor Daley!)

Using his laptop cam (and MacBook's Photo Booth) he snapped the above picture, then easily uploaded it to the web, with comments, using Twitpic.com.  Twitpic.com allowed Ed to publish the image to the web and post a comment to his Twitter micro-blogging account at the same time, with one magical click, as well as to his Facebook account.

There in a couple simple steps, including writing a posting this to his blog, Ed Eusebio has "overshared" with the Interweb Universe!

OK, so Jennifer and I thought it would be fun to start tracking all the stuff we buy on Amazon.com.

So here goes a list of a few of our favorite things on Amazon.com.  If you want to examine and buy these things too, we're certainly not going to stop you. And yes, I'm an Amazon Affiliate, so we'll get paid a small % if you do buy.

Here's our Amazon Store! Visit now, and shop til you drop!

Go to this free site to check out your broadband service speeds, http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1t. You don't even need to register or give them your email. I've actually been using this since the late 90's to check out my internet connection speeds, and it's pretty reliable. Flash is required for these free tests.  There are other testing tools on this site for testing your web services, but they require membership and credits.
